Jacoby Brissett and Derek Carr belong to an exclusive NFL quarterback club.
Patrick Mahomes has a 68-17 record as the Kansas City Chiefs’ starting quarterback. Even more impressive is the fact that Mahomes is a double-digit favorite with a 22-2 record.
However, the two quarterbacks who have beaten Mahomes and the Chiefs by double-digit disadvantages are Brissett (the Colts beat the Chiefs 19-13 by 11 points in 2019) and Carr ( The Las Vegas Raiders beat the Chiefs 40-32 as an 11-point dog in 2020).
Could Russell Wilson join the group?
Wilson and the Denver Broncos (1-4) are 10.5-point underdogs heading into Thursday night’s game against Mahomes and the Chiefs (4-1), and the betting public seems to think Mahomes will improve to 23-2 2.
BetMGM data analyst John Ewing tweeted 76% of bets and 83% of money are on the Chiefs to win by 10.5 points.
One KC backer put $110,000 (-550) on the Chiefs’ moneyline.
Fox Sportsbook analyst Geoff Schwartz projects the Chiefs to beat the Broncos because there are 11 Kansas City players on the field when Mahomes is on the sideline.
“Denver is playing a Chiefs defense that has held up the team. KC’s defense has not allowed more than 20 points in any game this season,” Schwartz said. “It also likes to put pressure and panic on the quarterback, using its improved secondary to run man coverage. Putting pressure on Russell Wilson will force him to make a mistake and the Broncos won’t score.”
