7 Android applications that deserve a place on any home screen

The home screen of your Android phone is real estate. This is the gateway to applications you use the most, the tools that help you navigate in your digital life. Aside from the essential widgets, take the time to manage a collection of precious applications for your home screen. In this article, I spend more than seven applications that deserve a coveted place on your Android phone home screen. Everyone can rationalize your day and stimulate productivity. From e-mail management and tasks to password safety and digital journalization, these applications will transform your Android device into an efficiency power.

I will not bother you with usual applications such as the phone, messages, WhatsApp and social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat. Instead, I focus on applications that have an impact on organization, productivity and well-being.

Microsoft Outlook: the ideal gmail alternative

Although Gmail is the most popular messaging client, I prefer Outlook for several reasons. I love the targeted reception box that filters unrelevant emails and does not distract me with endless daily notifications. Unlike Gmail, it has a calendar functionality where I can check my upcoming events, the calendar of the favorite sports team, follow sporting events, the television calendar, and even more with a single tap.

The other goodies include a robust OneDrive integration, AI Copilot (for Microsoft 365 subscribers and Copilot Pro only), contacts, etc. The Discover tab which presents press items is useless and does not deserve a place in a messaging application. I found it irritating.

Ticktick: more than task management application

Ticktick secured its place on my Android home screen because it goes beyond the typical task list application. First of all, it is a multiplatform solution with native applications on most platforms. In addition to task management, you can create habits, use the Pomodoro timer and follow your progress from a dedicated statistics menu. It is the ultimate tool to stay organized, productive and in addition to your goals.

My favorite complementary module is Eisenhower Matrix, which allows me to classify my tasks and follow just like a pro. The theme engine is the place where Ticktick really shines. The application is not limited to the usual dark and light themes. There are themes based on the season, the city, the photographs, the activity and more. You will not have trouble refining the application to adapt to your preferences.

1Password: Protect your identification information

Although there is no shortage of password managers on Android, I come back to 1Password for several reasons. First of all, it has proven itself to secure user data (unlike LASTPASS) and remains a multiplatform solution to access your identification information from anywhere.

1Password uses end -to -end encryption, and it is full of a long list of features to cross competitors like Chrome Password Manager. It supports fire to fire, several categories for your password, Totp, boxes, categories and beacons to organize your related passwords, etc.

Watchtower is an interesting additional module that follows compromise websites and vulnerable passwords and keeps you informed of the flight of potential data.

4

Journey: Note the daily events

Unlike Apple, Google does not offer an application to note your daily events. Here is why, among all the applications, I prefer the trip to my Android home screen. Journey has a clean and minimalist design, and he supports the equipment.

You can go beyond the text and integrate photos, videos and audio recordings to capture the full petrol of your experiences. For the organization, you can sort the entries with labels, locations and a view of the calendar and review these beautiful memories with a single tap.

Google may not have it, but these Android newspaper applications do the trick

The concept appearing on the list should not surprise anyone. I was not a fan of its Android application before. However, the company has done decent work to increase speed and performance in the latest updates. Although an application as a concept is not designed for a small screen, it gives me quick access to my important pages.

I use the concept for personal knowledge management, monitoring small projects, management of large databases and customer meeting ratings. It offers flexibility to adapt to any workflow and type of project. The concept allows you to easily share pages and workspaces with others. Since it houses personal and confidential work data, I would like to see an option to lock it with biometrics.

2

Solid explorer: Manage your files

Although Google has improved the default file application on Android, it still does not correspond to my favorite file management application of all time: Solid Explorer. It provides a powerful and versatile solution to navigate, organize and control the storage of my device, cloud storage, etc.

I can also create and extract archives in various formats, including Zip, Rar and 7zip. This functionality eliminates the need for distinct archiving applications. There are several theme options, customizable views and the possibility of creating hidden files. This is my essential companion to manage everything with tiny details on Android.

Since Google Home acts as the central control center of my intelligent house ecosystem, it has become an essential part of my Android home screen. I can control a range of intelligent home devices, including lights, televisions, speakers, etc., with a single tap. With a recent integration of Gemini, it’s better than ever.

It is practical to have these orders in one place, and create routines for things like wakeing up or preparing for the bed easier my life. Google Home brings everything together and gives me the impression of living in the future.
