For the past few days, Google Wallet for Android users have been unable to pay with PayPal. Google is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.
The problem appeared in early 2025, with in-store NFC (Google Pay) transactions failing and causing an error on card readers/terminals. Before the New Year, things were operating normally. This issue widely affects all Android phones and PayPal accounts.
As of today, Google has acknowledged the issue on the Wallet Help Page with a banner: “There is an ongoing issue with PayPal in-store payments, but a fix will be deployed soon. »
Android Pay gained support for PayPa in 2017. Last year, Google Wallet on Wear OS was updated with support. The ability to add PayPal as a payment method in Google Wallet is only available in the United States and Germany. In Google Wallet, tap the Add to FAB Wallet > Payment card to link.
