Grok AI app for iOS launched with real-time insights and image generation capabilities

Grok, xAI’s native artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, is now available as a standalone iOS app. The Elon Musk-led AI company has been beta testing the app for almost a month, according to reports. The standalone app comes with all the features available on the web version of the chatbot. Users can generate images and pose search queries on the web even when they are not logged into their X (formerly Twitter) account. Notably, although the company mentioned launching the app in the US, it has proven to be successful in India as well.

Grok is now available as an iOS app

xAI’s official handle announced the launch of Grok’s iOS app in a job on X. The message mentioned that users do not need to log in to the app to access its features. However, logging into an X account allows the AI chatbot to personalize a user’s experience when using the service.

The post as well as the app listing on the App Store mentions that Grok’s iOS app was launched in the United States. However, Gadgets 360 staff members were also able to download and use the chatbot in India.

Grok’s iOS app

After installing the app, users are redirected to a new chat window, where they can start interacting with the chatbot. Grok’s iOS app can have conversations with the user, generate images, search the web and X to find real-time information, and generate essays and emails. None of these features require the user to log in to the app, which is not possible on the web version of the chatbot.

Interestingly, the iOS app allows users to log in to Grok with their X account or through an Apple account. However, an X account allows users to connect their chats from the web client and provide a more personalized experience. In our brief testing of the iOS app, we found no latency issues, nor any bugs or glitches.

THE application list points out that the iOS app is powered by the Grok 2 AI model, the same large language model that also powers the free and premium versions on the web. Notably, we were unable to locate Fun Mode, but it might be available to X Premium and X Premium+ subscribers.
