LOS ANGELES — Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic said he is ready for Wednesday’s crucial Game 5 against the LA Clippers, but acknowledged he “probably won’t play” with his sprained right knee if it does. was the regular season.
“Not good,” Doncic responded when asked how his knee felt. “It could be a lot better, but it is what it is.”
Doncic, who injured his knee in the first quarter of Game 3, said he hasn’t made any explosive moves since playing 45 minutes in Sunday’s Game 4 loss. He said he received “a lot of treatment” over the past two days, while his basketball activity was mainly limited to shooting.
Doncic has also been suffering from an illness for several days. He was coughing and congested during filming Wednesday morning.
“I’m fine,” Doncic said. “I will be ready for this match.”
Doncic has struggled to reach his MVP candidate standards in the first round series, even entering Game 5. He is averaging 29.0 points, 9.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game, but Doncic is only shooting 38.6% from the floor and 26.5% from 3-point range.
“I’ve been in this situation a lot,” Doncic said. “I’ve played through injuries a lot. So go out there, have fun and do whatever you can to help the team win.”
