The first beta of Android 16 may not be far away

Google announced Android 15 QPR2 Beta 3 on Reddit today, with release notes highlighting a number of minor fixes in addition to one that addresses an issue that was causing devices to restart during phone calls. This new version has a build number of BP11.241210.004 and includes January 2025 security fixes.

Issues reported by developers and users

  • Fixed issues that could cause a device to restart during a phone call. (Number 379051274, Number 390594506)

  • Fixed an issue where trying to resume an app from the app preview would return to the home screen. (Number 385017194)

  • Fixed issues where the language selection menu (accessed by pressing and holding the spacebar) would change the window, causing the IME to be hidden in apps that had set their softInputMode has STATE_ALWAYS_HIDDEN. (Number 388201594, Number 386972825)

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused clicking in the background while recording video. (Number 385998260)

  • Fixed an issue that prevented wireless charging from working in some cases. (Number 379301921)

Other Fixed Issues

  • Fixed an issue that could cause devices to crash after starting an exercise on a connected Wear OS device.

  • Fixed an issue with null pointer exceptions that sometimes caused the system UI to crash.

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the Android Beta Feedback app to crash when submitting a bug report.

  • Fixed various other issues that affected system stability, connectivity, and interactivity.
