Eight easy iPhone tweaks in iOS 18.2

The latest iPhone update, iOS 18.2, brings a host of new features and customization options to personalize your device. Here are eight simple tweaks to make your iPhone truly yours. First of all, you can now customize the lock screen buttons.

Touch and hold the lock screen, unlock if necessary, and tap the minus icon to remove or replace the default flashlight and camera buttons. Second, the Action button on iPhone 16 Pro models can be programmed for various functions such as opening the Camera app or using Shazam. Go to Settings > Action Button to set your preferred action.

Third, iOS 18 allows for more flexible placement of app icons on the Home screen. Enter jiggle mode by touching and holding the screen, then drag icons almost anywhere, although they always snap to a grid. Fourth, some applications can be developed into widgets to display useful information.

Long-press an app icon and look for resize options in the menu. Drag the bottom right handle to change its size.

Eight Easy Settings for iPhone

Fifth, dark mode now extends to the home and lock screens. Enter jiggle mode, tap the button on the top left and adjust the dark mode settings to darken the background and apply a darker theme to icons and folders. Sixth, you can tint all app icons to match a unified color palette.

In the Home screen customization menu, choose the tint style and adjust the tint and brightness sliders to achieve the desired color, which will also apply to widgets. Seventh, for a cleaner appearance, you can remove app labels and increase icon sizes. Open the personalization options and enable the larger icons setting to enlarge the icons and hide their labels.

Finally, the revamped Control Center in iOS 18 lets you reposition and resize controls. Swipe up from the upper right corner (or up from the bottom on iPhone SE) to access Control Center. Enter edit mode by long-pressing the button in the upper left corner.

Drag controls to move them, and use the lower right handle of many controls to resize them. These tips and more can help you adapt your iPhone to better meet your needs and preferences in iOS 18.2. Enjoy a personalized and enriched user experience!
