When you try to connect to your Google account, you can be greeted by a Google prompt. This is a notification used to confirm your identity when you try to connect or perform another sensitive task. It will generally ask you to confirm that you are what you say that you are, but it seems that the process has just received an additional step.
Spotted by 9TO5GOOGLEVersion 25.02.34 of Google Play Services on Android has Google prompts to request additional verification. Just press the “Yes, it’s me” button in the prompt “Try to connect” is no longer enough.
It seems that the two -factor authentication function (2FA) now requires your fingerprint, your pin or your face discovery to continue. Depending on the point of sale, you can also choose other authentication methods such as Passkeys, safety keys or authenticator.
Whenever other steps are added to a process, you can expect this process to take a little more time. Fortunately, something like scanning your finger or entering your spindle can be done fairly quickly. A few additional seconds is a fair trade for an additional safety layer.
Google on iOS account users should also start to see the change. Instead of reading services, the Google or Gmail application is responsible for the prompt on iOS.
