- Google TV Streamer does not support Dolby Truehd and DTS-HD Master Audio, but the options were listed.
- An update has now deleted these options from the device.
- The update also seems to have solved certain problems.
Google TV Streamer supports a variety of audio settings such as Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus. Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio are also listed as detected audio codecs, but these two options have not been available since the device launch in the second half of last year. A new software update has arrived for the decoder, and this is bad news for these loss -free audio formats.
Although Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD were not taken care of at launch, listed as held audio formats kept users who hoped that the support would be added in a future update. Unfortunately, it seems that the opposite occurred after the last update of the device. Google has not revealed what is included in this fix, but users notice that the Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD options have been deleted.
We do not know all that this update adds, corrects or removes, but the detectives on the Android TV Subdreddit have documented the changes they find. According to these users, it seems that some fixes have been applied, such as solving a problem with webcam detection and solving a problem with Dolby Atmos. It also seems that the remote control has been updated to version 1.02.
