Apple software engineers have been testing internally iOS 18.5 since at least the beginning of February, according to the Macrumors Visitors’ newspapers.
Usually the presence of iOS 18.5 in our newspapers would not be remarkable. However, BloombergLast week, Mark Gurman reported that Apple was considering delaying or limiting at least part of his promised Apple Intelligence improvements to Siri to iOS 18.5, due to the presence of bugs and others software engineering problems.
The new features of Apple Intelligence for Siri was originally to make its debut with iOS 18.4, according to Gurman. Improvements include consciousness on the screen, understanding the personal context of a user and deeper application controls. For example, during its Keynote WWDC 2024, Apple showed an iPhone user questioning Siri on the flight and lunch books of their mother based on mail and messages applications.
The first beta iOS 18.4 should be published this week. Gurman said that it is always possible that at least some of Apple Intelligence’s features for Siri are included in iOS 18.4, but they could be deactivated by default. Even again, it is possible that the features are not added before the IOS 18.4 iOS beta versions, buying more time in Apple.
After the beta test period, the Apple website suggests that iOS 18.4 will be published in April, but it is not clear if this period will move due to reported bugs and potential delays with Apple Intelligence for the Deployment of Siri.
The first beta iOS 18.5 should arrive in April, and this update would probably be published in May, on the basis of the typical iOS exit calendar.
Apple Intelligence requires an iPhone 15 pro, iPhone 15 pro Max or any iPhone 16 model.
