iOS 18.4 Beta 1 details
IOS 18.4 Beta 1 is now available for developer beta testers. The update has the 22nd5200s. Apple has not yet published iOS 18.4 to public beta testers, but we expect it to change next week.
What’s new in iOS 18.4 Beta 1?
Appores Appaires + Food
IOS 18.4 BETA 1 adds a new Apple News + food section with thousands of organized recipes from better publishers. These recipes are presented in a clear and uncompromising interface.

Coming with iOS 18.4 and iPados 18.4 In April, Apple News + subscribers will have access to Apple News + Food, a new section that will include tens of thousands of recipes – as well as restaurant stories, healthy food, essential elements of the kitchen, and even more – from the best gastronomic publishers in the world, including Allrecipes, Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Good Food and serious eats.

Priority notifications
IOS 18.4 includes the new feature of priority notifications that Apple unveiled last year as part of Apple Intelligence. The functionality automatically highlights important notifications with a unique design, which facilitates the search for notifications that require your attention.

New Image Playground Style
When Image Playground was launched for the first time with iOS 18.2, he offered two of the three Image styles promised: animation and illustration. IOS 18.4 Beta 1 adds the third and last style: sketch.

Apple intelligence in more languages
There are new languages for the support of Apple intelligence: French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese (simplified) – as well as English located for Singapore and India.
Genmoji changes
Apple made the Genmoji button in the highly larger Emoji keyboard. There is also a new contextual window that appears the first time you use the function: “Create your own original emoji to add to messages or use as sticker.”
New categories of default applications
With iOS 18.4 Beta 1, Apple continues to extend the number of default applications categories that users can personalize. You can now define a default translation application in the United States and elsewhere. In the European Union, there is now a support for the definition of a default navigation application.

Ambient music
IOS 18.4 BETA 1 adds four new controls of control center for ambient music:
- Coldness
- Productivity
- Sleep
- Well-being
These can be added to the control center, assigned to the action button for your iPhone and placed on your lock screen. They are each assigned to an Apple Music’s default reading list, but you can customize it to any playlist in your music library.

Carplay design update
As spotted by my friend Jace on the sonsIOS 18.4 Updates the Carplay interface to add a third line of application icons to the home screen. This change only applies to certain cars.
The new messaging application comes to the iPad
With iPados 18.4 Beta 1, the new messaging application that made its debut on the iPhone with iOS 18.2 is now on iPad. The mail application can now organize and automatically sort your emails in four different categories:
- Promotions: marketing emails and coupons
- Primary: Personal emails and sensitive to time
- Transactions: Confirmations and receipts
- Updates: news and notifications on social networks

Apple Vision Pro updates (upcoming)
Apple has announced that a new Apple Vision Pro application will soon arrive on the iPhone as part of iOS 18.4 and Visionos 2.4 in April.
Once available, this application will automatically appear on your iPhone after updating your iPhone to iOS 18.4 and your Apple Visionos 2.4. If you do not have a pro Apple Vision Pro, you can download this application from the App Store to explore the Discover page and learn more about the space computer platform.
IOS 18.4 also adds new accommodation for guest user functionality on Apple Vision Pro. This feature will be available in a future update of iOS 18.4 and Visionos 2.4.

Photo apps display
In the Photos Application, there is a new interface to modify your album list.
Age group during configuration
When you have configured a new iPhone from zero with iOS 18.4, you will be invited to choose the “age group” of the person who will use the device. Apple says that this information will help “the iPhone configure parental commands and security features”.
- Child: 12 or less
- Teenager: 13 to 17
- Adult: 18 years or more
Apple has added a new library and displays widgets of the Podcasts application. These can be added to the home screen of your iPhone to easily play episodes from a list of your library or to play episodes of a program you follow.

In addition to these changes, there are a handful of smaller changes included in iOS 18.4 Beta 1.
- Apple added two new shortcut actions for the messages application: “open conversation” and “send a message”.
- There are two new Australian voices for Siri in iOS 18.4.
- Apple has produced some design adjustments to control the center, including a new selector for switching development methods, a new animation when adjusting the volume and a new design for the curb of cellular data.
- In the Settings application, the “Appo-Caméra” part of the camera control interface now obtains its own dedicated menu.
- As spotted by Aaron Perris on XJapanese digital id “My Number Card” coming to the Apple portfolio in iOS 18.4.
