Siri was launched in 2011, and although more capacities have been added over the years, the harsh reality is that it has not become dramatically more intelligent since then. People are used to being disappointed that many users of Apple devices have practically abandoned it. Since so few people use it for so few tasks, he barely cares.
But a brand new look is entirely a different question. Of course, the new look introduced with iOS 7 was massively controversial, and many thought that Apple’s design head, Jony IVE, should never have been authorized near the company’s software side. But like it or hates it, you certainly couldn’t ignore it.
The same goes for a new 3D look, which could even include skeuomorphic elements (much more modern). It is probably possible that many will hate him that to love him during his first introduction, because this seems to be true for any significant change made by the company, but it will probably make more than any improvement for Siri that society can introduce, then or later.
