Friday, we learned that Gemini replaces Google Assistant on Android phones. At the same time, Google has quietly announced that the assistant loses 7 additional features.
This follows Google at the beginning of 2024 announcing 18 movements of features on Android, smart screens and speakers. Google Friday Update of this list With 7 additional capacities:
- Favorite, share and ask where and when your photos were taken with your voice.
- You may always prefer and share your photos in the Google Photos app and see where and when your photos have been taken on your smart screen and tablet.
- Change the photo frame settings or ambient screen settings with your voice.

- Translate your conversation live with someone who does not speak your language with the interpreter mode.
- Get birthday recall notifications as part of routines.
- You can always ask your assistant to remember the birthdays that are important to you.
- Ask to plan or hear announcements of previously planned family bells.
- Get daily updates from your assistant, like “send me time every day”.
- Use Google Assistant on car accessories that have a Bluetooth connection or a socket.
Changes in photo frame slideshow are not major losses, but delete a certain convenience. Family Bell is a favorite of customers, with routines offered as an alternative today.
The Google Assistant Interpreter mode was announced in 2019 and transformed screens and smart speakers into dedicated translation devices. It was also available on Android. The obvious (and more advanced) replacement is the dedicated Google Translate application on mobile.
Google has also confirmed that the assistant cars’ microphones stop as we mentioned previously.
