Atlanta United Announces “Legacy Collection” Retail Line


Atlanta United today announced the Legacy Collection, a custom retail line celebrating Atlanta’s rich Black culture and honoring the significance of Juneteenth. The Legacy Collection is the club’s first player-led collaboration, in which Atlanta United players Jay Fortune, Tristan Muyumba, Xande Silva, Caleb Wiley, Derrick Williams and former player Derrick Etienne Jr. provided information and an inspiration to guide the Atlanta United design team from ideation. to production. The final collection blends history with the players’ perspective as a statement for the club and the city of Atlanta.

The collection includes a Juneteenth T-shirt, sweatshirt, scarf and patch that players will wear during the club’s next two matches against Houston Dynamo and DC United. Proceeds from the collection will benefit Black Players for Change (BPC), an organization comprised of Black players, coaches and MLS staff, closing racial equity gaps in the sport of soccer and beyond. The Legacy Collection will be available on Thursday, June 13 at the club’s Team Store in Atlantic Station. It will be available at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium Team Store starting Saturday, June 15 during Atlanta United’s home game.

“We are proud to introduce the Legacy Collection, a meaningful collaboration that celebrates Atlanta’s vibrant Black culture and honors the significance of Juneteenth,” said Skate Noftsinger, Atlanta United Chief Business Officer. “Working closely with our players, we have created a collection that reflects their personal experiences and heritage, ensuring designs are both authentic and impactful. We hope this collection will not only resonate with our Atlanta community, but also support the vital work of Black Players for Change.

Elements featured throughout the collection include the colors red, blue and white, derived from the Juneteenth flag, and the blossoms of a southern magnolia, symbolizing the history and culture of the South, and the blanket flower, originally from Galveston, Texas, the birthplace. of June tenth. Depicted on the back of the jersey and sweatshirt are black Atlanta United players who helped shape and inspire the design. Finally, the crest boldly displays the date June 19, 1865, a moment in U.S. history marking the emancipation and citizenship of all African Americans and a unifying reminder of the continued commitment to freedom and equality.

Cam Kirk, one of Atlanta’s most notable photographers and videographers, formerly of Morehouse and founder of Collective Gallery, welcomed Atlanta United players to Cam Kirk Studios for the Legacy Collection photo shoot.

Atlanta United returns to action on June 15 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium to face the Houston Dynamo (7:30 p.m., MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, 92.9 The Game, La Mejor). All Atlanta United matches are available with an MLS Season Pass subscription, located on the Apple TV app.
