Nicholson spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Clermont from Spartak Moscowbut before moving on to France‘s the elite, the 27 years old his career began in his native Jamaica. The Clermont striker played Trench Town High School during his youth career.

The Jamaican striker left Belgium for Russia in 2022, where he would have making 43 appearances in total while scoring 12 goals and registering four assists.

By speaking to League 1 In March, Nicholson spoke about his adjustment to life in France and noted that playing in Belgium helped prepare him for his new surroundings.

“I I wasn’t surprised by what I found here, especially since when I was in Belgium, I had come to France several times. But there is definitely a big difference from Jamaica. There, there is always music, people chatting in the street… The culture is undoubtedly quite close to that of Africa.“.

“TThe main difficulty in adapting to Europe was the weather. Food wise, it was ok. When I arrived in Europe, playing first in Slovenia and then in Belgium, I could find pasta, or fried chicken, like in Jamaica. The real difference and main challenge was the weather!”

Nicholson his impressive performances in Europe have earned him a regular call-up to the Jamaican national team since 2017 and he made 42 appearances and scored 11 goals for the team. Most important goals of his international career collided Canada in the CONCACAF Nations League draw last year, which allowed them to secure their place for the 2024 Copa América.
