Franklin, La. (Klfy) – St. John ElementarA new approach to school security adopts with the help of a new artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence software is called Zero eyes And it is said that it would be proactive in the protection of firearms and the awareness of the situation with regard to mass fire and violence linked to firearms, according to their website.
News 10 spoke with Sheri Higdon, director of St. John, how they discovered the program. She said that a parent of one of their students had heard of a police agreement in Florida. When they learned more about what Zero Eyes is and the good he can do, they were all inside.
“The reason we have chosen Zero Eyes is because it is proactive. It is not responsive. You know, you don’t have to wait for a shooting to occur before obtaining an alert.” Said Higdon.
Founded in 2018 by a team of military veterans, Zero Eyes prevented multiple potential shootings on school campuses in 46 different states. The co-founder SAM ALAIMO said that the Zero Eyes algorithm is able to identify weapons through the cameras and that an alert is sent to a team of professionals who can check if it is a possible threat and if the authorities must be informed.
“We have and it will be done in several ways. We have a 911 distribution center. We call primary or secondary tertiary contact points at the school. We have a mobile application. We send a text message. We also send a notification via an office dashboard and the video management system. ” Said Alaimo.
During school threats, the police receive many calls with contradictory information. It makes it difficult to know the situation. Zero Eyes prevents this from happening because he can identify the shooter, the weapon and their location in a few seconds.
“Once this pistol is seen in front of a camera in about 3 to 5 seconds, they will have an alert in the shooter’s hands. Photo of the shooter, the exact location of the shooter and the exact time they were there.” Said Alaimo.
With artificial intelligence software such as that has progressed and helped school security, there will be no surprise if we see more technologies like this in the future.
