Longtime Carol Stream Fourth of July Parade Volunteers to Serve as This Year’s Grand Marshals


The grand marshals of the Carol Stream Independence Day Parade will be longtime volunteers and organizers Kim and Rick Gieser.

Kim and Rick Gieser, who volunteered and chaired the Carol Stream Independence Day Parade for 20 years, will serve as grand marshals of the 2024 parade.

“Kim and Rick have led the parade for 20 years,” said Shari Bulvas of the Carol Stream Parade Committee. “We want to show our appreciation for all the work they do to create a great parade every year.”

The couple has been members of the Carol Stream Parade Committee for 20 years. They have overseen all aspects of the parade: fundraising, booking entertainment, recruiting volunteers, coordinating with the Village of Carol Stream, monthly meetings, community outreach, coordinating registration, making announcements during the parade broadcast, and much more.

The theme of this year’s parade will be “Stars, Stripes and Smiles.” The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 4.

The parade begins at the corner of Lies and County Farm roads and continues on Lies Road, ending at the Ross Ferraro Town Center.

Participants include: Jesse White Tumblers, Glenbard North Marching Band, Shriner Cruzin’ Coolers, 501st Midwest Garrison Star Wars Band, Those Funny Little People, Midwest Jeep Alliance, police cars, fire trucks, community groups and more.
