What you need to know
- A prediction has discovered signs in the Android Auto code which apparently indicates the integration of intelligent glasses.
- The code channels mention a “glasses” option and the possibility for users to “start navigation” with their glasses.
- This discovery surfaces one day after Google’s Démo Ted 2025, where it presented its “memory” of Android XR glasses.
A recent code discovery claims a really interesting feature in the development of Google’s driving ecosystem.
The development of a new curious integration in Android Auto was spotted in an APK dive by Assembedebug and Android authority. In addition to the predictioner, the publication discovered two new channels in the recent version of Android Auto which both contain a “glasses” modifier. The first channel is simply the option itself, which is for an “glasses option”.
Although nothing concrete surface, this code adds only an option for this new feature, probably in its list of parameters / features.
The second channel is more interesting because Google’s early added code can be read as follows: “Start navigation to launch glasses”. According to the name of the code, it seems that Google works to integrate information on the Android Auto console with a pair of intelligent connected glasses from a user for AR Assistance. Speculations also lean this way; However, the way these alerts or navigation information Bits may appear is unknown.
This code was noticed in the V14.2.151544 of Android Auto, and as things are always naked, we are probably far from learning more.
The future of Google of Android XR glasses
The time of this discovery is only pushing us in one direction: the recent Demo Ted 2025 from Google from its Android XR glasses. The culmination of demo was the “memory” capacity of glasses. The demo, product manager Nishtha Bhatia, asked Gemini where she had left the key to her hotel room. As she wore her XR glasses – and Gemini was attentive – the AI was able to answer with: “The key card of the hotel is on the left of the music disc.”
Bhatia was able to move her key card to the shelf behind her, where the musical record was.
ElsWhere, said Google: “These glasses work with your phone, streaming from front to back, allowing glasses to be very light and access all your phone applications.” In this spirit, there is a chance that Android Auto could bring similar possibilities to the Google XR glasses.
If we keep the things light, the “glasses” option would simply recover information from your car on -board software instead of trying to load cards in its context. Google’s Démo Ted 2025 has also shown a pair of glasses that only have a screen for a goal. The company had previously shown glasses with a screen and another with two screens in 2023, so it seems that there are plans for several options.
