HOUSTON – A flood warning is in effect for parts of southeast Texas as heavy rain is expected in the region as Tropical Storm Beryl moves across the Gulf of Mexico toward Texas.
The advisory is expected to last until 4:15 p.m. and affect Fort Bend, Harris, Montgomery and Waller counties. The advisory comes in response to excessive rainfall that is expected to cause flooding in those areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), at 2:12 p.m., radar indicated heavy rainfall from thunderstorms, with 1 to 2 inches of rain already having fallen. Minor flooding is underway or expected to begin soon in the forecast area.

Flooding is expected in low-lying and poorly drained areas. The NWS says specific areas at risk include:

- Bunker Hill Village

- Northern Spring Branch
- West Spring Branch
- Spring Valley
- Addicks Dix Park
- Memorial Park
- Afton Oaks and River Oaks Area
- Higher heights
- Eldridge / West Oaks
- Greenway / Upper Kirby Area
- Grand Greenspoint
- North side / North line
- Aldine
Residents in affected areas should be aware of the risk of minor flooding in low-lying and poorly drained areas. Precautions should be taken to avoid flooded areas and to ensure safety.
