Wednesday brought system software fixes to a table of Apple devices, all intended to correct the bugs. This includes the version of iOS 18.4.1 to delete a bug that prevented some iPhone users from accessing Carplay on a wireless connection. There are also two important security fixes.

In addition, Apple also made MacOS 15.4.1, iPados 18.4.1, TVOS 18.4.1 and Visionos 2.4.1 available at the same time. But no equivalent Watchos update has appeared.

iOS 18.4.1, macOS 15.4.1 and more freed

Apple never stops developing its different operating systems and frequently releases large and small software updates for them. Large updates are delivered with new features. The little ones are really only patches to solve small problems.

Apple’s description for iOS 18.4.1 clearly indicates that this is delivered with minor adjustments: “This update provides significant bug corrections, safety updates and solves a rare problem which prevents carplay wireless connection in certain vehicles.”

And the iPados 18.4.1 note includes even less, simply remaining: “This update provides significant bug fixes and safety updates and is recommended for all users.”

The two security updates are essential, because they are both accompanied by the warning: “Apple is aware of a report that this problem may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on iOS.” The safety weaknesses actively used by hackers should be closed as soon as possible, and these fixes do so.

How to correct your Apple devices

IPhone and iPad users can install iOS 18.4.1 and iPados 18.4.1 directly by opening the Parameters Application and go to General > Software update. Alternatively, update your devices by connecting them to a Mac (or a PC running iTunes).

To download the macOS Sequoia update, go to the Apple menu > About this Mac. Then click Software update. Alternately, install the new version from The App Store. (Note: At the time of writing the present, Apple had not yet updated the version of MacOS in the App Store. But that should happen soon.)
