Frenchman Adrien Rabiot suspended for Euro 2024 quarter-finals

French midfielder Adrien Rabiot will miss his team’s European Championship quarter-final through suspension.

The 29-year-old received an early yellow card in France’s last-16 win over Belgium on Monday, his second caution of the tournament.

The Juventus midfielder was also shown a yellow card in France’s 1-1 draw with Poland in their final group stage match, meaning he has triggered the two-card threshold for a suspension in the tournament.

France beat Belgium in a game with few chances, with substitute Randal Kolo Muani’s 86th-minute goal deflected off opposition defender Jan Vertonghen towards goalkeeper Koen Casteels, who got the better of him – UEFA recorded the decision as an own goal.

It was a match that was part of the continuity of the French tournament; Didier Deschamps’ team have yet to score from open play – with two own goals and a penalty – while they have conceded only one goal in their four matches, from a penalty.

France will now face the winner of the quarter-final between Portugal and Slovenia in Hamburg on Friday.
