Does your pixel phone lack unlocking fingerprints in takeoff? How to activate it in Android 16 Beta 4

Each pixel phone powered by the tensor, with the exception of the two foldables, has a fingerprint scanner under the screen. Until recently, the Pixel’s sub-decisive fingerprint scanner only worked when the screen was on. Google finally approached this limitation with a new feature called unlocking fingerprints of depollution in a previous beta version of Android 16. Or we thought. Google has mysteriously deleted the switch to functionality in the latest beta version, suggesting that the company will not launch it in the next stable version. Despite the missing switch, the unlocking function of digital take -off fingerprints still works for those who previously activated it. In addition, we discovered a way to activate it for users who did not have the chance to light it previously.

THE Unlocking digital discharge imprints The functionality allows Pixel phones to use fingerprint unlock even when their screens are turned off. In other words, the function makes the fingerprint scanner always active, so everything you have to do to unlock your phone when the screen is off is to press your finger on the scanner area. Previously, the only way to keep the fingerprint scanner active at any time was to activate the screen always on, which keeps the display (and therefore the fingerprint scanner) always lit.

Google initially introduced the unlocking function of digital take -off fingerprints in the second overview of the Android 16 developer, but it was limited to the Google Pixel 9 series. However, with the release of the third android 16 beta, Google has expanded the lockout of digital take -off fingerprints to all pixel phones. Thus, it seemed that the functionality was surely going to enter the next stable version of Android 16.

Unfortunately, the unlock parameter of digital takeoff fingerprints has been deleted in Android 16 Beta 4. The parameter has already been found under Settings> Safety and confidentiality> Unlocking the device> Unlocking face and digital fingerprints> Digital fingerprints unlockingBut it is no longer available in Android 16 Beta 4, even on my Pixel 9 Pro. Since Android 16 Beta 4 is the latest planned version of the Android 16 Beta program, the functionality may not be available in the next stable version. It is also possible that the functionality is coming back in the stable version, but if this is the case, we do not know why it was deleted in the beta 4.

The drop in unlocking off -off fingerprints that has been introduced in Android 16 DP2 is now missing in Android 16 Beta 4.

Curiously, the unlocking function of digital take -off fingerprints always works for those who previously activated it in Beta 3. By digging more deeply, we discovered that the functionality was not deleted from Android 16, but the parameter to allow it. We have also discovered that it is possible to manually switch the function using a hidden command.

Simply configure ADB access, then run the following command from your PC to activate the unlocking of digital take -off fingerprints:

In order to resurface the functionality setting, you will have to root your Pixel device, then install a superposition of execution resources (RRO) which returns the framework config_screen_off_udfps_enabled Flag of false for real.

If you prefer not to use the ADB or root your phone commands, you will have to hope that Google brings the parameter to the stable version of Android 16. Alternatively, you can simply allow the display function always on maintaining the fingerprint scanner active at any time, but note that this increases the use of the battery.
