The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) responded to reports that it has sent artificial intelligence processors to the Chinese giant of Huawei technology. The Ascend processors of Huawei have been the subject of many debates, with a new semi-analysis report saying that Huawei has succeeded in acquiring TSMC processors. The Taiwanese firm is prohibited by the United States from sending advanced fleas to Huawei, and the TSMC declaration says that it has not shipped products to the Chinese company since September 2020. Simmer American sales in Huawei under the previous Trump administration in May 2020, with a period of grace of 120 days allowing expeditions to mid-September.

TSMC claims that he is communicating with the United States government to eliminate suspect orders

Chinese access to high -end AI fleas came in the foreground of attention in January after the startup Deepseek AI models managed to imitate their Western performance counterparts. Several reports have said that Deepseek had access to the H20 AI GPU of Nvidia, which are specialty variants designed for China and have since been limited to sale by the United States government. Simultaneously, a report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSI) said Huawei could produce more than half a million Ascens advanced flea.

Another semi-analysis report, which surfaced last week, was also quite explicit. He stressed that the American government analysis company and the Tech Insights fleas had acquired the Huawei Ascend chips and determined that they had indeed been manufactured by Huawei. For its part, the CSIS report mentioned that Huawei had acquired the matrices used to make these chips before the American sanctions against Huawei, which implies that TSMC did not violate any American restriction.

The sanctions against Huawei were taken by the first Trump administration in May 2020. At the time, the TSMC advanced manufacturing technologies were the nodes of 7 nanometers and 7 nanometers +, which Huawei mainly used for its smartphone processors. They granted a 120 -day grace period, which made it possible to ship the orders before May 15 before September 14.

In his declaration published after the Semi Analysis report, TSMC affirms that he complies with all the laws applicable for his products. The latest AI chips require manufacturing processes of 7 nanometers and advanced such as the 5-nanomier for their production. The latest TSMC technology at the moment is the 3 nanometers process that is used for low -power fleas such as smartphones.

According to TSMC, he has stopped sending orders to Huawei since September 2020. The company adds that if he notices suspicious orders, it “will take rapid measures to ensure compliance”, which includes reasonable diligence and informing it of the relevant authorities. The firm has also revealed that it had already communicated with the Commerce Department with regard to suspicious orders and will continue to do so in the future.
