Last year, Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 was an surprisingly impressive mid -range phone, the one I had trouble writing despite a cost less than half of that of the flagship phones that I tested in 2024. This year, the motorcycle G Stylus 2025 is articulated again.
Although it is not exactly the power of the AI that the Pixel 9a could be, Motorola has improved the 5G stylus in other respects, mainly with better hardware specifications and some improvements on the software front. The result is a phone which, at least on paper, seems to cost much more than $ 399.
I have the motorcycle G 2025 stylus for a few days now, and even if I am delighted to really put it to the test, here are some of my favorite things that I noticed, depending on my first impressions of the phone.
Let’s talk about this design
Motorola seems to have settled on a design for 2024 and 2025, so the 2025 stylus does not seem too different from its predecessor outside the largest camera case. It is not a bad thing, and I like the design of the 2025 stylus, especially when you take into account its new colors.
Motorola began her partnership with Pantone a few years ago, a collaboration that saw the two companies apply fairly unique color options to Motorola phones, such as Razr. The Stylus Moto G 2025 is dressed in two pantone colors, and even if they look great, surfing, the web really stands out with its blue-ish / vibrant indigo shade.
The color looks great on the frame of the phone and the soft vegan leather, giving it an almost neon atmosphere that I do not often see on smartphones.
Lately, Motorola seems largely against the launch of phones with typical white or black manners, forcing users to choose devices with a little flair, even if they are only mid -range or budget phones. The motorcycle G 2025 stylus follows this trend, probably seeming more attractive than the Samsung Galaxy S25 series at half the price of the cheapest model (although the Galaxy S25 navy is excellent).
The front looks great too
Then there is the display. Motorola did an excellent job by shrinking glasses on her stylus phones, to the point where the motorcycle G 2025 stylus could almost be confused with a flagship phone.
That said, there is more on the screen that meets the eye, at least at first glance. Motorola uses an OLED panel with a “Super HD” resolution, which I had certainly not heard of before on a phone. With a resolution 2712 x 1220, it seems to sit somewhere between a full HD + panel found on most mid-range and high-end phones these days and a Quad HD + display found on premium phones.
The result is a display that pushes more pixels than even the $ 800 Galaxy S25 while maintaining a 120 Hz smooth cooling rate.
The G -Stylus 2025 motorcycle has better display specifications than the Galaxy S25 base, a phone that costs twice as much.
Not only that, but the screen can reach 3,000 impressive peak brightness nits, which is higher than all Galaxy S25 models, including the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It also includes the prevention of the flicker, which is ideal for people with sensitivity to PWMs.
This is undoubtedly the best display on a G motorcycle phone, and I hope that Motorola will continue to incorporate more impressive screens into its devices, in particular its flagship models like the next RAZR 2025.
Keep the lights on
With display specifications like this, it is natural to wonder how the battery life would be affected. After all, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is not the most powerful or effective chip, and although the battery has a respectable capacity of 5,000 mAh, I would have liked to see something bigger.
However, Motorola seems to have attenuated any concern, evaluating the phone for more than a day of use on a single load. Until now, the phone manages to exceed my expectations, easily for a full day in regular use. I hope to see how it changes more by using it more and that the phone lies with my habits, but so far, I am very satisfied with the battery life.
But that is part of the story.
Motorola equipped this $ 400 phone with a 68W wireless load and a 15 W wireless load. These are specifications that I generally only see on high -end OnePlus phones, so see them on a phone, this affordable price is a very welcome surprise. I have not completely timed how fast the phone is fully loaded, but it will reach 50% faster than most of the other phones I used, and I would feel more comfortable getting out of the house at this charge.
It is good that we are starting to see larger batteries, but being able to load them quickly is also just as useful. I really hope this will become a standard for American phones, especially at this price.
Everything else (so far)
As indicated, the motorcycle G Stylus 2025 is not an AI power, so do not expect something like a nano gemini nano of a pixel here. That said, Circle To Search is honestly a feature that I don’t think I can live on a smartphone, so I’m happy to see its inclusion here.
There is also a new sketch functionality in the image, which reminds me a little of the functionality of Samsung of the same name. I have not played much with that, but the first impressions are quite good so far (anything that can produce a fairly seen R2-D2 of an almost indecipherable drawing is correct in my books).
I am very curious to see how the cameras are doing in my tests. The new Sony Lytia 700C sensor seems very promising, and the Moto G stylus of last year has not disappointed in the imaging department. That said, I don’t know why Motorola decided to include a color sensor, except for uniformity on the camera housing, and I would have liked it to have been left out.
And of course, there is an integrated stylus. Like last year’s model, the stylus has a much more robust design and does not seem as cheap as previous models. I do not expect the levels of precision of the pen on this passive stylus, although the company says that it has 6.4x more reactivity than its predecessor. I find it interesting that Motorola’s passive stylus continues to improve because Samsung continues to delete the features and functions of its S … but I go away. 🍵
Already giving flagship products for their money
I have only had the motorcycle G Stylus 2025 only for a few days and I will test it before my full exam, but I am already surprised to see how good this phone feels good to use. In the wake of fairly mediocre phones which are somehow even higher, the Moto G Stylus 2025 of $ 400 looks a big step in the right direction for not only Motorola but for cheap Android phones.
With the Pixel 9a and even the OnePlus 13R, the Stylus 2025 shows that you will not have to pay a ton of money for a flagship experience, whether with a ton of artificial intelligence features or with impressive equipment.
I only hope that other companies are looking at, especially in the United States, where the mid-range smartphones market seems to have stagnated. At this point, it seems that Android outsider like OnePlus and Motorola push the needle significantly.
Flagship for less
The Moto G stylus is one of the best mid -range phones you can buy now. It offers many specifications that correspond or exceed more expensive phones and that’s it for a low price of $ 399.
