The 2024 WNBA season is moving closer to the Olympic break as action continues Saturday afternoon with a game between the Los Angeles Sparks and Dallas Wings in Arlington, TX.
The Sparks have lost 10 of their last 11 games, with their only win coming in an overtime upset at home against the Las Vegas Aces. The Wings have lost 16 of their last 18 games, with both of their wins coming at home.

My analysis
These teams currently have the two worst records in the WNBA and have been plagued by injuries throughout the season.
The Los Angeles Sparks lost new talent Cameron Brink and key player Lexie Brown indefinitely. The Dallas Wings saw three of their top four scorers miss significant playing time, and last year’s second-leading scorer has yet to play this season.
Los Angeles and Dallas have already played each other twice this season, but both games came early in the season with very different lineups than what we’ll see today. The Wings won the first game in Los Angeles, 84-83, but that was thanks to a big effort from Maddy Siegrist, who had 15 points and eight rebounds. Siegrist will be out for this game.
The Sparks won Game 2, also at home, 81-72, but Brink had a double-double and Brown had 16 points, six assists and four rebounds as a substitute. However, there was one big thing that was consistent in both games and will continue to be consistent in Game 3, and that was Arike Ogunbowale’s shooting volume.
Ogunbowale shot 7-of-30 in Game 1, finishing with 20 points, five assists and five rebounds. In Game 2, she shot 10-of-28 for 22 points, four assists and one rebound. She shot a dismal 0-of-17 from three-point range in the two games combined. However, the shooting was there, and the Sparks are allowing their opponents to shoot 37.4 percent from three-point range, which ranks last in the WNBA.
Ogunbowale has made 34.3 percent of his three-pointers this season, so those two games were truly an anomaly. While I’d like to take his Over on three-pointers made for a rebounding performance, the odds aren’t great. Instead, we can settle for the Over on his point total of 21.5.
She was at that exact number in the previous two matchups against the Sparks despite terrible shooting, so an improved performance from downtown should allow her to easily surpass that number.

Not only will Ogunbowale reach her point total, but the Sparks’ leading scorer should as well, Dearica Hamby. She scored 19 and 22 points in each of the first two games, while Brink and Brown both had big scoring games. She’ll now have to handle the workload and should be able to do so against the Wings.
Finally, we will finish the accumulator bet with a Wings win at home. While they have been bad recently, they have not been that bad in Dallas. They are 3-4 overall at home and three of those four losses are against teams in the top 5 of the league. They will win this time around.
