Tl; DR
- Google largely deploys the Chromecast home panel with Google TV and other Google TV devices.
- The feature was previously available for people enrolled in the Google Home Public Overview program.
- The home panel allows you to control your smart home devices directly from your Chromecast with Google TV and other compatible screens.
Chromecast with Google TV may no longer be available, but that does not mean that Google abandons it. In fact, a new update was abandoned in March, bringing Android 14 to the popular streaming dongle. Now, the former Google streamer picks up the coveted home panel of his more expensive successor, the Streamer Google TV.
Previously, the Home panel was limited to users who joined the Google Home Public Overview program. Then, in October of last year, Google began to deploy it on smart televisions. Now Google is putting the domestic panel available more widely on Chromecast, as well as Google TV and other compatible Google TV and Smart TV devices.
So what exactly is the reception panel? Introduced with the Google TV streamer, it’s a simple but powerful addition. The home panel allows you to control your smart home appliances directly from your TV. It reflects the favorite tab of the Google Home application, offering you easy access to lights, cameras, smart speakers and more – all without unhooking your phone.

You will find the house panel nestled in the Google TV quick setting panel. You can also lift it by pressing the home button for a long time on your Chromecast remote control. If you have other Google TV devices, the feature could also take place there.
There are some requirements to use the home panel on your chromecast with Google TV (or any Google TV device). You must be the owner or a member of a house in the Google Home app to which your Google TV profile is linked. Your device must be defined in standard mode, not on applications only or basic mode. You may also need to oppose the home panel from your Google TV settings. And of course, you must have at least one intelligent domestic device (other than your TV) added to your Google Home application.
How to activate the home panel on your chromecast with Google TV
If you do not automatically see the home panel, here is how you can activate it on your chromecast with Google TV:
- Open the fast settings dashboard by clicking on the settings icon at the top of your Google TV screen.
- Select Settings next to your profile icon.
- Go towards Accounts and connection> User profile> Google Home.
- Turn or deactivate the home panel setting, according to your preferences.
