Simone Biles’ Favorite Food Is a Comfort Food Classic

With eight Olympic medals, Simone Biles is now the most decorated American gymnast of all time. She also has five different gymnastics routines named after her, and she’s pretty much the only person who can do them—only one other athlete has ever accomplished any of those feats. Given that Biles is practically the queen of gymnastics, no one would blame her if her favorite foods were oysters, caviar, and anything covered in gold leaf, but her ideal meal is actually something much more down-to-earth: pizza.

Biles loves this dish, especially the pepperoni-topped pie. It’s actually her personal tradition to eat pepperoni pizza after a competition, no matter how well she does. It’s also a meal she likes to order for delivery at lunchtime after a morning spent working out at the gym.

With such a passion for a good pie, you might guess that Biles loves everything from frozen pizza to homemade deep-dish pie, but a stuffed-crust pie is one of her absolute favorites. Biles is also a fan of different types of pizza from across the United States, like the iconic St. Louis-style pizza from her husband Johnathan Owens’ hometown. When she was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Kimmel insulted the creamy Provel cheese used by St. Louis institution Imo’s Pizza, Biles responded with a charming smile and a few strong words: “We could fight right now” (via YouTube).

Simone Biles is a stickler for a balanced diet. She eats oatmeal or hard-boiled eggs for breakfast and homemade s’mores for dessert, but she doesn’t count calories or strictly track what she eats. “I eat what makes me feel good and I try not to overeat or binge because I’m always at the gym,” she told Women’s Health in 2020.

For Biles, that often means she or her husband cooking lemon pepper chicken or salmon to go with rice and vegetables. She loves peas, green beans, corn, carrots, broccoli, and asparagus, but potatoes are her favorite. Other times, she’ll order fettuccine Alfredo or sushi. Plantain chips, popcorn, fresh fruit, banana muffins, and pretzels dipped in Nutella are some of her favorite snacks. Biles is definitely not a picky eater — she loves trying new restaurants and cooking them up in the kitchen when she has time. The only thing she can’t eat is coconut, because she doesn’t like the taste.
