Single-seater dinghy for men and women
After two more races today, Matt Wearn (AUS) and Marit Bouwmeester (NED) took the top positions in their fleets.

Reigning world champion Wearn made a great start to the day by winning race three, and despite finishing 18th, a gap was formed to give the Australian a three-point lead at the top of the standings.

Croatian Filip Jurisic follows closely in second, buoyed largely by his first place in race four. The previous day’s leader, Stefano Peschiera, drops to third after a slightly less profitable day with a 14-11.

Bouwmeester of the Netherlands is the only ILCA 6 class sailor to have finished in the top five in all three races so far, dominating today with a one-two finish. The Rio 2016 gold medallist mastered the wind in Marseille from the start but is only two points ahead of second-placed Louise Cervera of France.

“I was very happy with my first races,” said Bouwmeester. “And then I got a yellow flag in the last race that was abandoned 20 seconds before the end, that was a shame. But I am happy with the results so far. I definitely have the same desire. With a family at home, it is somehow important, but not the most important, so I feel a bit more comfortable this time.”

Cervera had an unusual first race today, finishing 24th, but she recovered well to take fourth in the following race. Finland’s Monika Mikkola, who was 18th after the first day of action, recovered well to take second and fifth on the water today, propelling her to third overall.

Two-seater mixed dinghy
The last class to be launched was the 19,470 and Japan’s Keiju Okada and Miho Yoshioka made the most of their first outing, coming first and second to lead the fleet overall.

Reigning world champions Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman of Spain remained close to the leaders with fifth and sixth places today.

Meanwhile, Germany’s Simon Diesch and Anna Markfort combined their efforts well on the water to move up to third place, just one point behind the Spanish crew.

North America Results:
18. Stuart McNay Lara Dallman-Weiss (USA)
