Jorge Masvidal on What Happens “If You Pit BMF Against BMF”

The first silver-plated bracelet was first won by Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 in 2019, before ending up in the hands of Justin Gaethje late last year as he landed a kick perfect for knocking out Dustin Poirier at UFC 291.

Speaking to LowKickMMA after the dramatic knockout victory, Masvidal first celebrated the BMF belt lineage, but also called out Gaethje for a “unification” fight, saying such a fight would lead to fractures in the side from “The Highlight”:

“Man, if you put BMF against BMF, you put me against Gaethje in there, I’m going to break his eye socket (bone) and I’m going to cut him to pieces, man, so I hope that can arrive at some point.

Justin Gaethje calls Jorge Masvidal ‘fat’ and ‘irrelevant’ in 60-second rant

Ahead of UFC 300 and his first official BMF title defense against the former featherweight champion, Gaethje certainly didn’t mince words when responding to Masvidal’s claim regarding his orbital bone fracture.

Speaking to former two-time champion Daniel Cormier, via his official YouTube channel, Gaethje said: “He’s out of the spotlight and the only orbital bone he broke was him against Kamaru (Usman) and I loved seeing it.”

“Nothing was more special (to me) than seeing all that mist come off his face when Kamaru fucking punched a hole in it, it was one of my favorite nights… He’s big as fuck, I beats at 155 pounds so he can get fucked.

MORE NEWS ON THE BLOODY ELBOW

The fan-favorite lightweight speculated that the only reason Masvidal is coming after him like this is because he lost a large amount of money in his fight with friend and teammate Dustin Poirier:

“I think (it’s) because he bet so much money and I took it from him against Poirier, I would be upset about that too. I hope he bets a lot of money on this one, but not on me. He’s so irrelevant right now, that’s why he’s saying it so he can become relevant again.

Masvidal hasn’t competed in the UFC octagon since early 2023, but will have a major rematch against Nate Diaz in just a few months – but this time in the boxing ring.

“He’s fighting Nate Diaz? See, I didn’t even know that, that’s how irrelevant he is,” Gaethje laughed, before declaring that “none of them can f***** box.” »

Hero Mark Coleman will wrap BMF belt around UFC 300 winner

When Masvidal won the BMF belt, the silver bracelet was wrapped around him by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, with Masvidal himself putting the belt on Gaethje after his knockout victory.

During the UFC 300 pre-fight press conference, Dana White was asked if the legendary Mark Coleman could get the honor on Saturday night, at the request of Gaethje and Holloway, to which White simply replied: “It’s done.”

Coleman, the first-ever UFC heavyweight champion, heroically saved his parents from a house fire in March and was himself hospitalized for several days after suffering smoke inhalation and burns during the rescue .

Ahead of the UFC 300 press conference, Coleman told MMA Junkie that the support offered by Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway “brought a tear to my eye.”

“I am delighted. If I end up belting them or whatever, that’s just icing on the cake. I’m just happy to be here because it’s the biggest, baddest, best card ever made and I’m excited about the very first prelim.

UFC 300 takes place this Saturday from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
