Apple tests a new feature fueled by AI in iOS 18.4 (currently in public beta) which will automatically generate summaries of opinions on the App Store. Instead of reading hundreds of individual criticisms, users will see a concise summary generated by AI which captures the global feeling and the key points of user comments.
“From iOS 18.4 and iPados 18.4, people can see a new summary of the revision on your App Store product page to find out more easily on applications and games at a glance,” said Apple.
This feature is fueled by Apple Intelligence and will help users quickly understand the strengths and weaknesses of an application based on real user experiences. These revision summaries will be generated using large -language models (LLMS), highlighting key information only in the form of short paragraphs.
For example, instead of scrolling dozens of criticisms, users can see a summary like: “Users like intuitive design and smooth performance, but some mention occasional bugs in the last update”. Obviously, it will facilitate and faster to decide to download an application.
Given the authenticity factor, Apple will update the revision summaries generated by AI at least once a week, but only for applications and games that have received a number of criticism. However, Apple did not specify the number of opinions necessary for an application to be eligible for these summaries.
Meanwhile, Apple also gives users and developers a way to ensure that the summaries generated by the AI remain exact, fair and useful. If users notice a problem with an examination summary, they can press and keep it to report the problem directly to Apple. If creators of application think that summaries are unfair, inaccurate or distort their application, they can report problems via App Store Connect.
For the moment, availability of revision summaries generated by AI are only available in the United States (in English) for a small number of applications and games. Over time, this feature will extend to more applications, as well as more countries and languages throughout the year.
In technical terms, the functionality is currently tested by beta users on iOS 18.4 beta 2 and iPados 18.4 Beta 2. It will be officially published to the public in April when the final version of iOS 18.4 and iPados 18.4 will be launched.
Interestingly, Apple is not the only company to use AI for examination summaries. Technology giants like Amazon and Google already offer similar summaries powered by AI for opinions and locations on Google Maps, respectively.
Earlier, Apple also added a “Priority Notifications” feature fueled by AI in its last update “iOS 18.4 Beta 1”. Once activated, your iPhone will intelligently organize notifications, highlighting those deemed the most important according to your models and interactions of use, whatever their age.
