Apple Intelligence was officially launched three months ago in iOS 18.1, and new features have regularly deployed. But the next iPhone update, iOS 18.4, will be particularly important for Apple’s new intelligence capacities. Here are seven features and changes that should arrive soon.
Consciousness on the screen for Siri
One of the special “wow” moments of using a pro vision is to realize that Visionos always knows what you are looking at. Regarding iOS 18.4, Siri in a sense will gain a similar power on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Awareness of the screen means that you will be able to make Siri requests that refer to the things you look at, and the assistant will know how to give meaning to your words. Thus, for example, if your sister sends you his new address in an iMessage, you can simply say: “Add this address to contact”, and Siri will do it without any other clarification instruction.
SIRI application action catalog
Using a system called Inteent Applications, iOS 18.4 will allow Siri to carry out hundreds of new application actions, without having to open the applications themselves.
What will be even more impressive is Siri’s ability to perform these actions on different applications. For example, you can ask Siri to find a specific photo, apply changes to it, then submit this photo in a specific folder in the Files application – only using your voice.
Knowledge of the personal context
Siri will also understand much more about you as an individual, explaining the key knowledge of you than a real assistant would know.
For example, you can refer to a recipe that a friend sent you – even if you don’t remember if it was in an email, SMS or a note – and Siri will find it for you. The Apple assistant can also find and share information such as your passport number, your calendar history, etc.
Priority notifications
Similar to the existing “Priority” function in the redesigned messaging application, the AI will soon be able to surface the most important notifications directly at the top of your notification battery.
Priority notifications use the understanding of Apple Intelligence’s language to determine what constitutes a particularly important alert. This will allow users to do less notification management themselves, while never missing the most important updates.
Sketch style in image image
Apple originated from the Image Playground application with three distinct style options for images: animation, illustration and sketch.
Currently, the Sketch option is missing from iOS 18.3. Expect to see it added in iOS 18.4, offering a new way to stylize your original AI image creations.
Apple intelligence in the EU
Apple said it provided the appropriate support for Apple’s intelligence to the EU from April with iOS 18.4.
Currently, AI’s features are only available on the Mac inside the EU, but soon the iPhone and iPad will also benefit from the suite of Apple Intelligence features.
New IA languages
Finally, Apple also plans to introduce new languages supported for Apple Intelligence in iOS 18.4.
The company did not say exactly what languages are priority, but it confirmed that the following will be supported for some time this year: Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean , Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, “and other languages”.
IOS 18.4 Gathers Apple Intelligence
After the arrival of iOS 18.4, if all these expected ships features, Apple will have published its complete list of the initial Apple intelligence features. Everything that is demo to WWDC last year will be in the hands of users. And not for a moment too early, because the date of release in April of iOS 18.4 will not be far from June, and the next big wave of AI in iOS 19.
