The crypto market has evolved with the advent of artificial intelligence (AI) as technology has advanced and also opened up new investment avenues for enthusiasts. The branching of the AI space has further allowed new narratives to make their way into the market.
BeInCrypto analyzed the narratives that drove AI crypto tokens in 2024 and also the direction they could take in 2025.
AI Agents
One of the most intriguing AI stories was that of AI agents. AI agents are intelligent systems designed to analyze their environment, make informed decisions, and take actions to achieve defined goals. In an interview with BeInCrypto, Nicolai Sondergaard, research analyst at Nansen, described the potential of these tokens in 2025.
“One important trend I foresee is the increasing use of AI agents across various industries, regardless of size. These agents could be applied to customer interactions, data analysis, and image or content generation. This technology is particularly beneficial for small businesses that cannot afford human expertise throughout the process. AI agents would handle the majority of tasks, leaving final quality control to humans,” Sondergaard told BeInCrypto.
An emerging token in this category would be Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL), which has seen a 10,359% year-to-date rally. This growth took the altcoin from the low of $0.029 to $3.141 at the time of writing.
Going forward, this growth is expected to continue and push VIRTUAL higher, provided investors do not decide to sell. Profit-taking could lead to a fall below the $2.021 support, sending the altcoin towards $0.502.
AI Meme Coins
The demand for meme coins has not spared AI either. This is visible in companies like Turbo (TURBO) which manage to record a 3,000% year-to-date increase. For the past few weeks, the altcoin has remained mostly stuck in sideways movement, but it may soon note a breakout above $0.0134.
The narrative hype of AI coins has also skyrocketed Act 1: The AI Prophecy (ACT), Goatseus Maximus (GOAT), and Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) into the spotlight. Due to high demand and hype, FARTCOIN even managed to reach a market capitalization of $1.15 billion.
So, by 2025, as the two most crucial narratives – AI and Meme Coins – continue to find demand, the market may witness the emergence of more AI meme coins.
AI-DePIN
Although artificial intelligence and DePIN are their own exclusive categories in the crypto market, the latter has influenced the former. The DePIN narrative had a considerable effect on the crypto space during the second half of the year.
The impact of the same can be noted on the AIOZ Network (AIOZ), which saw a 569% increase in a span of 12 months. The altcoin managed to surpass the $1.00 threshold before sliding down to trade at $0.95 at the moment.
As the AI-DePIN narrative continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how far it can progress in 2025. AIOZ will be a key token in this category and get $1.00 as support could push it higher in the graphics.
On the other hand, the loss of the $0.92 support could cause the altcoin to fall towards $0.55. This would completely invalidate the bullish outlook, leading to losses for AIOZ investors.
