Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde remains hopeful of a top-four finish.
Victory against Celta Vigo this evening will keep their Champions League hopes alive.
Valverde said: “We are looking upwards. At the moment we could finish fourth, fifth or sixth.
“The math is clear. As long as there is a chance, you have to aim to finish higher. It’s true that it’s complicated, but you have to be competitive and be ready to try to go all the way .We want to finish as high as possible in the league.
“We are facing a team fighting for relegation. There will be a good atmosphere on their pitch and they will be waiting for us with the knife between their teeth.
“They’ve changed their style, playing with a more attacking approach and you can see they’re more confident. They’re upbeat, with the two-step salute, and they’re doing well. Let’s see if we can answer all that. ”
He continued: “We gave everything. Sometimes we can do things right or wrong, but we were competitive and gave everything in every game to achieve our goals.
“Let’s be clear, we would have taken this season as it is at the start of the campaign. In La Liga and Copa it was a great year and a great season in every sense.
“We always aimed to finally win and it was a huge joy for the dressing room, the club and everyone who supports Athletic.”
