Audiokit King of VHS: VCR Synth is a new Lo-Fi synthesizer inspired by retro for iOS AUV3 with many ready-to-use sounds.
Matthew Audiokit Pro Ferre teased the Synthone J6 application long awaited for some time now. The release date is now known: May 1, 2025. Before that, Audiokit published something new and surprising.
Audiokit King of VHS: VCR Synth is a new AUV3 synthesizer focusing on retro lo-fi sounds.
Audiokit King of VHS: VCR synth
King of VHS: The VCR synth is the successor to the VHS Synth application. The original application was bought by another company and published with a subscription, which has angry people. Audiokit King of VHS: The VCR synth has been rebuilt and is available without subscription.
According to Audiokit, they redesigned the effects of the user interface and VCRs and rewrites the application from zero. Like the original application, it is an autonomous plugin and AUV3 synth which captures the sound of vintage synthesizers recorded via a VCR.
The double engine uses a combination of virtual analog synthesis and sample reading. Each layer can host a PCM sample from more than 400 new samples (in 40 multi-sampled pcm). And more than 160 multi-sampled PCM instruments, including more than 2,500 high quality VCR / VHS samples.
You can change each layer with various commands, including the level, melody, good and pan. Each layer also has a dedicated ADSR envelope.
Then, it has a multimod filter per layer with a link option and cut -off and resonance controls. Three LFOs with advanced mod bearings offer you additional modulation capacities. For example, you can adjust an LFO with another LFO or the sequencer.
On the dedicated video recorder page, the Retro Fun Lo-Fi begins. It brings together a selection of effects that color the sounds with a distinct warm flavor: Bit-Crusher (Lo-Fi), VCR ribbon, multi-tape delay, reverberation, heat (distortion), tremolo, phaser and harmonic filter with an ADSR envelope.
In addition, it is delivered with a simple step sequencer with a adjustable flow, door and modulation option. Synth by magnetoscope with many new sounds.

First impression
I am happy King of VHS: The VCR synth is back as a new application without unnecessary subscription. The application has many retro sounds with great consonance. Compared directly to other Audiokit applications, this is the best sound, in my opinion.
Audiokit King of VHS: Synth VCR is now available for a launch price of $ 3,99 instead of $ 19.99. As a bonus, you will receive VH from the 80s from Brian Funk ($ 15) + VCR Wave OP-1 ($ 15) + new samples. It works on iPhones and autonomous iPads and as a AUV3 plugin.
