The NFL Draft is almost here, and most experts believe the Cincinnati Bengals will use the No. 18 pick to tackle the trenches via offensive or defensive tackle.
However, there is a potentially major need at wide receiver if the Bengals believe Tee Higgins will be elsewhere in 2025 after playing under the franchise tag in 2024.
That’s why numerous mock drafts had Cincinnati selecting LSU Tigers forward Brian Thomas Jr. in the first round.
However, Thomas has reportedly been medically flagged by several NFL teams, according to The Athletic’s draft guru Dane Brugler.
I’m really intrigued by the landing spot for LSU WR Brian Thomas Jr. Elite size/speed, FBS led in TD catches, inexperienced route tree, a few teams flagged him for medicals.
Could go as early as #10 to NYJ or make 10 picks later.

Thomas, 6-foot-3, 209 pounds, earned All-American honors last season after catching 68 passes for 1,177 yards and an FBS-leading 17 touchdowns in 13 games. He is widely projected as a top-20 draft pick this year. He’s currently ranked 18th on the consensus big board, so he fits right in with where the Bengals are currently projected to make their first-round pick.
Additionally, it doesn’t appear that Thomas’ medical issues are as significant as John Ross’s, and the Bengals still took him ninth overall in the 2017 draft.
It’s also worth pointing out that Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz is hearing that Thomas is someone who has been up late and should hear his name called fairly early, so it appears there are teams in the top half of the draft who agree with his medical examinations.
Let’s hope this isn’t a repeat for whoever lands Thomas. He has a bright future ahead of him in the pros if he can stay healthy.
