Is Bigfoot in Colorado?
That’s what a Wyoming couple thinks after spotting what they believe is an “eternally elusive creature” on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in southwestern Colorado over the weekend.
Shannon and Stetson Parker were on their way to Durango by train from Silverton through the San Juan Mountains on Sunday, looking for elk, when Stetson saw what he thought might be Bigfoot.
“We were in the mountains looking for elk, and my husband saw something moving but couldn’t explain it. So he was like, ‘Bigfoot!'” Shannon told the New York Post. “It’s at least six or seven feet or taller. Much like the sage in the mountains, it’s like a disguise when it’s crouching.”
Shannon posted on Facebook that she scrambled to take a photo of the beast while a man sitting next to Stetson captured video of the creature, which has now gone viral on social media.
“You, out of the hundreds of people on the train, as Stetson says in the video, three or four of us actually saw the elusive creature Bigfoot,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “I don’t know about you, but we believe it.”
The Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad cuts through the mountains of the San Juan National Forest between Durango and Silverton, and according to the Bigfoot Field Research Group, this is not the first time the mysterious creature has been reported in the area. .
In San Juan and La Plata counties, where Durango and Silverton counties are located, there have been four Sasquatch reports since 1989.
The most recent sighting in the area occurred in 2008, when a hiker outside Durango spotted a “huge furry figure” on the Crater Lake Trail.
