The new multicam remote functionality, which was introduced on the iOS and iPados versions of the application last August, allows a single Android smartphone or a tablet to be connected to nine other phones running the camera application On a Wi-Fi network or a wired network. The controller device can be used to monitor live video streams from all connected phones in a multi-visual arrangement, a start-up or a stop of the records and adjust the parameters such as the focus, the zoom, the frequency of ‘Images, the white balance and the angle of shutter individually or on all phones at the same time.
Although the Blackmagic Camera application was initially published in September 2023 for iOS devices, the deployment of Android was much slower and staggered. When the application was finally launched on Android last June, it was only compatible with a handful of Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel smartphones. Blackmagic Design slowly expanded the compatibility of the application with other Android devices, and this week’s update adds the support of the Samsung Galaxy S25, S25 Plus and S25 Ultra. The newly added support for Android tablets is limited to the Xiaomi Pad 6 and Samsung Tab S9.
The other features introduced in the Blackmagic camera for the Android 2.0 update include support for the Tilta USB lens control system, an update of the user interface allowing users to “slide several clips Multimedia ”, the German language support and the possibility of capturing the video at 120 and 240 IM Sony Xperia smartphones which support this functionality.
