MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Buc-ee’s, a popular roadside rest stop chain famous for its beaver nuggets, is coming to West Tennessee, according to state Sen. Page Walley.
Walley, who represents Fayette and several other neighboring counties, posted the news on his official Facebook page Wednesday with the caption: “BUC-EE’S WELCOME TO FAYETTE COUNTY!!! Another great economic and commercial success for our District!
“Are you serious?! This is awesome!!!” State Senator Raumesh Akbari responded.
The location is listed in documents released by Walley as Exit 28 of Interstate 40 in Gallaway, just east of the Shelby County line and a few miles from Memphis.
Jerri Isom, Senator Walley’s legislative aide, provided the following statement to WREG:
“We are thrilled that Buc-ee’s has chosen Fayette County as its West Tennessee location. Our local officials are to be commended for making this possible. Just minutes from Ford’s new Blue Oval City mega-development, people from across the country traveling I-40 will be able to enjoy the Bucc-ee experience and marvel at all the positives emerging in our region.
The company has not confirmed this information, and a location map on the company’s website does not list a location in West Tennessee.
Buc-ee’s was founded in Texas in 1982 and currently has 28 travel centers in seven states.
Tennessee’s first locations recently opened with fanfare in Crossville and Sevierville, in the eastern part of the state. A location in Murfreesboro is in progress according to media reports.
