The Kansas City Chiefs have made no secret of their intentions to upgrade the receiver position this offseason. Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Mike Evans was considered the most sought-after prospect in free agency, but he decided to stay with the franchise.
During NFL Network’s recent training camp coverage, Evans spoke with Gerald McCoy about his decision to re-sign with the Buccaneers.
“In the back of my mind, I think about Houston and Kansas City,” Evans said. “I love Pat Mahomes’ game. I think about both of those teams. And I think about the Bucs, obviously.”
The multiple Pro Bowler credited his family and feeling at home in Tampa Bay as reasons he re-signed with the team he led to a Super Bowl victory over the Chiefs in 2020. Evans is the only player in NFL history to post 10 consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons early in his career. In 2023, he had 79 receptions for 1,255 yards and 13 touchdowns, a league record.
The Chiefs are excited to sign veteran receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, who should make an immediate impact this season.
