Although a California resident was the only winner of the $1.76 billion Powerball jackpot after Wednesday night’s drawing, more than 150 players across the United States won prizes ranging from $50,000 to $2 million by guessing most of the numbers correctly.
Two players who won $2 million before taxes from Powerball (one from Pennsylvania and one from Arizona) doubled their winnings by joining Power Play.
The lottery offers a $2 million win by matching 5 white balls (22, 24, 40, 52 and 64) with a Power Play option.
Additionally, seven players matched the first five numbers in the October 11 drawing to win $1,000,000. These new pre-tax millionaires come from:
- California(2)
- Florida(2)
- new york(1)
- Oklahoma(1)
- Virginia (1)
On top of that, another 24 tickets gave Powerball players $100,000 as long as they matched 4 of the first 5 numbers, with the addition of the Power Bet option.
Finally, 121 Powerball players won $50,000 Wednesday night by matching four of the first five numbers without the power betting option.
The single ticket sold in California won a final prize of $1.76 billion ($774.1 million cash), making it the second-largest lottery jackpot in the United States and the second-largest Powerball jackpot ever.
