Jets vs Broncos Prediction
The Jets and Broncos both had impressive comebacks from behind in their respective games last week. While the Jets came back from trailing the Chiefs 17-0 in the first quarter and ultimately lost 23-20, the Broncos staged an even bigger comeback, coming back from a 21-point deficit late in the third quarter. The team rebounded to defeat the Bears 31-28.
The much-criticized Zach Wilson had his best game of the season last week against the Chiefs, posting the highest passer rating in a game of his career (105.2). He also completed his first game with two or more touchdown passes without an interception. Wilson’s reward for this performance was a meeting with one of the league’s worst defenses.
Yes, a lot of the Broncos’ defensive numbers — last in total defense (461.5 ppg) and last in scoring defense (37.5 ppg) — can be attributed to a poor performance in Week 3 against the mighty Dolphins. But that doesn’t excuse allowing 28 runs and scoring or more in two of the other three games. The Broncos gave up 471 total yards to Chicago last week against the Bears.
Additionally, Denver opponents have a passer rating of 133.4 this season, the highest in the league.
That opened up the opportunity for the Jets to finally get their offense going. New York is averaging just 13.3 points per game since the Week 1 win over the Bills, and all season long, only the Giants and Bengals have averaged fewer total yards per game than the Jets (252.8 yards per game).
The fact that second-year wide receiver Garrett Wilson is still playing impressively helps prove that the Jets offense is getting closer to being respectable. Wilson leads the Jets in targets (36), receptions (21), receiving yards (225) and receiving touchdowns (2), and he tied it with nine catches against the Chiefs A new career high.

The Jets defense may be feeling confident after forcing one of Patrick Mahomes’ worst games of the season last week. But they will face another high-level quarterback in Russell Wilson, who has bounced back nicely after a terrible 2022 season.
Russell Wilson has a passer rating of 106.7, tied for third in the league. Only Brock Purdy (115.1) and Tua Tagovailoa (114.4) are better, and their teams are a combined 7-1 this season.
Russell Wilson has a career passer rating of 132.6 against the Jets, also the highest among quarterbacks (minimum 50 pass attempts) against New York.
As far as how to bet on this game, yes, the Jets showed last week that they’ll be hard-pressed to score. Still, I liked how this game ended. As mentioned before, the Denver Nuggets’ defense is their worst all season, and with a good offensive performance last week, the Jets should be able to score in the 20s.
The home game probably won’t have an impact on the Broncos’ defense, but it should have an impact on the offense. They haven’t played in front of a home crowd since Week 2, when they nearly beat the Commanders with a Hail Mary touchdown pass.
The question is, do you trust the Jets offense more than the Broncos defense? In terms of size, I do.
Best bet: Over 43.5 points (-110 at DraftKings SportsBook)
