Just beyond its deathbed, Chromecast with Google TV has finally recovered its Android 14 update promised this week, and it seems that there are a handful of problems for those who always use the streaming dong.
The Android 14 update for Chromecast with Google TV was initially promised in May 2024 and Google reiterated that it arrived even later that year. On March 13, the update finally started to take place.
The Google modifier for the update is brief, saying:
This software update includes:
- Upgrade the Android TV version from 12 to 14

- System stability and improvements
However, some users quickly found that the update introduces certain problems.
One of the problems we see reported is that external discs no longer seem to work, At least for some users.
