MONTERREY, Mexico — Concacaf announced Wednesday sanctions against Inter Miami CF for an incident that occurred after the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinal match against Monterrey on April 3 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Mexico. Florida.
After the final whistle, Monterrey assistant coach Nico Sanchez said Lionel Messi and head coach Gerardo Martino contacted the referees to challenge decisions made throughout the match before Rayados officials are not involved.

A source told ESPN that the Argentina striker angrily approached the visitors’ dressing room and started shouting after Miami’s 2-1 defeat to Monterrey in the first leg.
After gathering evidence and documentation during an investigation, Concacaf fined the South Florida club for “lack of security.”
Concacaf said in a statement: “After reviewing the documentation and evidence gathered during their investigation, which included requesting written statements from both clubs and a thorough review of reports submitted by match officials, and on the “Based on the competition regulations and the applicable Disciplinary Code, the Disciplinary Committee has fined Inter Miami CF an undisclosed amount for lack of security at its stadium.”
Concacaf then warned Inter Miami that “more severe sanctions” could be added if a situation of this nature were to arise in one of its future competitions.
Monterrey previously confirmed it had filed a complaint with Concacaf over the incident, seeking sanctions against the team.
Miami received news of the fine on Wednesday while in Monterrey for the Champions Cup second leg between the teams.
