A great exchange of cryptocurrency indicates that it was the victim of a sophisticated hack that stole approximately 1.5 billion dollars of digital money, marking one of the largest online flights of all time.
Bybit said on Friday that an Ethereum routine transfer, one of the most popular cryptocurrencies between digital portfolios was “manipulated” by an attacker who transferred the crypto to an unidentified address.
The company sought to reassure customers that their assets in cryptocurrency with the exchange were safe. The company added that the news of the hack had led to an increase in withdrawal requests and that there could be delays in their treatment.
Ben Zhou, CEO of Bybit, said on social networks that his business would remain solvent even if the hacked crypto was not recovered.
“We can cover the loss,” he said.
