AFTER her middleweight last-16 defeat to Khadija on Tuesday, Team GB’s Chantelle Reid is remaining positive.
The Derby boxer said: “I feel good, I couldn’t have done more in the ring so I’m happy with my performance. I really feel like I won the first round. My opponent came back with a different tactic. I tried to stick to the plan as much as possible but I didn’t get the decision.”
“I feel so blessed to have qualified. I’m grateful to be here with the best team, the best coaches, the best support staff. I’m boxing with the best in the world. I couldn’t have asked for more. I’m so grateful to be an Olympian and that won’t be taken away from me. It’s going to stay with me for the rest of my life.”
“Two years ago, I would never have imagined this. Last January, I came back with the goal of winning championships and even less of qualifying for the Olympic Games. But yes, I am an Olympian and I am proud of myself, proud of my work, proud of having given 100% of my performance and that is all I could have asked of myself to do.
Two years ago I would never have imagined this
“I really enjoyed being part of the GB team. I haven’t been here long so four more years is not out of the question. The coaches and I will look back and see what can be adjusted, what we can improve and learn from that moving forward. Get better from here on out.”
“I’ve never stepped into the ring feeling this good, feeling this confident, feeling like I was going to get the win, so I didn’t have any negative feelings going into the fight.”
