Drake says he’ll be stepping away from music to focus on health after new album releases

Drake fans may have to wait a little longer than planned to enjoy his latest album, as the artist announced Friday that he will be taking a break from music to focus on his health.

The rapper, who just released a 23-track album called “For The Dogs,” discussed his immediate plans on Friday’s SiriusXM show “Table For One,” which includes focusing on himself and those around him.

“I’ve had the craziest stomach issues for years,” Drake revealed. “I need to focus on my health, I need to stay healthy.”

He also mentioned wanting to focus on taking care of those around him, including his 5-year-old son Adonis, whom he shares with French artist Sophie Brussaux. Adonis appeared on For The Dogs and drew the album’s cover art.

“I have some other things I need to do for other people that I’ve committed to,” the “Hotline Bling” singer said. “I have a lot of other things I want to focus on, so I’m going to lock the studio door for a while.”

For now, Drake said he’s not sure when he’ll be back in the studio, but said he’s thinking “maybe a year… maybe a little longer.”

The 36-year-old Canadian artist also posted a clip from the radio show on Instagram Stories, captioning it, “See you when I see you.”

Drake will perform in Toronto on Friday and Saturday as part of his It’s All A Blur tour. Dates for the five remaining shows on his tour in Ohio, Louisiana and Tennessee have yet to be confirmed, according to his website.
