Drake says he’s taking a break from making music due to stomach issues he’s had for years

Drake has announced that he will take a break from music “maybe a year or so” due to stomach issues the hip-hop star has suffered for years.

During Friday’s episode of SiriusXM Sound 42’s “Table For One” radio show, the Canadian rapper said he needs to focus on his health.

“Nothing crazy, but like, you know, I want people to be healthy in their lives,” he said. “I’ve had the craziest stomach issues for years and I’m just saying what it is.”

“I have some other things that I need to do for some other people that I’ve promised them, but I probably won’t be doing music for a while, I’ll be honest with you,” the artist said.

The Grammy winner said he may take about a year off from music.

“I need to be ready, I have a lot of other things I want to focus on,” he said. “So I’ll lock the studio door for a while, I don’t even know what a little bit is. Maybe a year or so, maybe a little longer.”

A rep for Drake declined to comment further on the musician’s hiatus.

Just hours before the global release of his latest album, For all the Dogs, Drake announced his retirement from the music industry.

“For all the Dogs” is his eighth studio album and contains 23 songs, featuring contributions from 21 Savage, SZA, J. Cole, Bad Bunny and Chief Keef.

Drake releases a song from the album “Charlotte 8 a.m.,” ahead of the release of the full album. The official video for the song features his son Adonis Graham, who drew the album’s artwork – a goat he calls “Goat Daddy.”
