Earthquakes shook Southern California this weekend: did you feel it?


SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Three different earthquakes hit Southern California over the weekend.

The latest earthquake map from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) shows three earthquakes that shook Southern California over the weekend, the largest of the three, measuring 3, 6, striking west of Salton City, on the border of San Diego and Imperial counties.

Another, smaller earthquake, measuring 2.5 magnitude, struck about 4 miles west of Borrego Springs at 5:32 a.m. Sunday, and was felt only in the surrounding area, according to reports from the USGS earthquake map.

On Saturday evening, a magnitude 2.9 earthquake struck at 11:20 p.m., about 3 miles southeast of Redlands, California. This earthquake was felt primarily in San Bernardino and Riverside counties, according to USGS shaking map reports.

Of the three earthquakes, the one felt the most was the magnitude 3.6 quake that struck at a depth of 6.6 miles at 12:17 p.m. Sunday, 8 miles west of Salton City .

Reports of weak to light shaking came from parts of northern San Diego County, Salton City and around Cathedral City, according to the USGS shaking map.
