Eminem’s ‘The Death of Slim Shady’ Album: Listen to It Now

Shady is back, back. Eminem is back to release his 12th studio album on Friday (July 12) with The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace).

The LP contains 19 tracks and includes previously released singles “Houdini” and “Tobey” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron, as well as a follow-up to 1999’s “Guilty Conscience” featuring Dr. Dre.

Eminem took a moment on Thursday (July 11) to explain to fans that TDOSS is actually a “concept album,” and he implored listeners to press play and follow the project’s sequencing as listed from one to 19.

“Public service announcement: ‘Death of Slim Shady’ is a concept album, so if you listen to the songs out of order, they may not make sense,” he tweeted. “Enjoy.”

Eminem is on the hunt for a tenth consecutive solo album that would see him debut at number one on the Billboard 200. The two singles he released prior to the project both cracked the Billboard Hot 100. “Houdini” debuted at number two on Eminem’s chart of the decade, while “Tobey” peaked at number 95 on the chart.

The Death of Slim Shady is Em’s first project since the 2020s Music to be murdered. Fittingly, it was his frequent collaborator and close friend, Dr. Dre, who revealed Eminem’s new album last March during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

“Let me tell you something, let me explain something right now: Eminem is working on his own album that’s coming out this year,” Dre said. “And I talked to him and he said I could make that announcement right here on this show. So he’s got an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s awesome. In fact, I’m going to listen to the whole album for the first time tomorrow.”
