AI Scammer targets F1 fan on Instagram

The situation at Barcelona is not the first time a fake Lewis Hamilton has hit the headlines. Recently, a woman in Sao Paolo, Brazil narrowly avoided falling victim to a scam orchestrated by an AI-driven imposter on Instagram.

According to Metropoles, the scammer created a fake account with just 1,400 followers, a stark contrast to Hamilton’s verified account which has 36 million followers.

The imposter sent messages to Valdemira Aparecida, pretending to be Hamilton and even using AI to generate voice notes mimicking the F1 star’s voice. The scammer demanded money and attempted to sell a “fan card” for $1,500, allegedly from an agency based in Rio de Janeiro.

This suspicious request prompted Aparecida to contact Metropoles, who confirmed that the account was indeed fake and using AI for deception.

Lewis Hamilton’s time at Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari for the 2025 season will change the landscape of Formula 1. Hamilton is hoping to win his coveted eighth world title by joining the sport’s most legendary and best-known team.

This will probably be the last daring gamble of his remarkable career. As well as raising the stakes for Hamilton, the team is also being held to even higher standards due to the Ferrari switch.

Mercedes will have a big hole in their driver roster for 2025 as a result of this decision, and it will take them just over a year to find a replacement. George Russell is still a strong contender within the team, but it will be extremely difficult to replace Hamilton’s commercial and international appeal.

As Mercedes looks to break out of its rut the Spanish Grand Prix, they will seek to improve and have better prospects for 2025.
